MEC Manchester receives four shortlists at The European Search Awards
12/03/2015

MEC Manchester has been shortlisted in four separate categories at The European Search Awards 2015 for its work with First Great Western. The shortlisted campaigns include the #FGWFrameYourTrain competition and the Glastonbury Checklist campaign.

MEC’s successful #FGWFrameYourTrain campaign, which won gold in the Best Digital Marketing Campaign category earlier this year at the Northern Digital Awards, has been shortlisted in three categories including Best Use of Search – Travel/Leisure, Best Local Campaign and Best Use of Social Media in a Search Campaign. This campaign challenged travellers to capture their journey via Instagram sharing the beauty of the view from their train window. The competition generated a huge amount of buzz online and received over 300 entries.

Additionally MEC’s work with First Great Western for its Glastonbury Checklist campaign has been shortlisted within the Best Low Budget Campaign category. The campaign, which was created in a short timeframe and on a minimal budget, aimed to provide Glastonbury travellers with a fun and shareable piece of content in the form of a practical checklist of items required to attend the event. The checklist was pushed out to local press and news providers as well as online, earning an impressive reach of over 680,000 Twitter impressions. The campaign gained fantastic national exposure, including coverage in The Guardian, and raised awareness of the train provider’s services to its core audience.

Louise Howard, Account Director - Organic Performance, MEC Manchester said, “As one of the most prestigious industry search awards in Europe, we are delighted to be shortlisted for our work with First Great Western. The fact that we have been shortlisted for all four of the categories we entered is reflective of the team’s strength and dedication to delivering exceptional digital work, grounded in data, which enables our clients to thrive.”

The winners will be announced on April 22nd.
